Elizabethan Ayres and Dances

Courtlye Musick will be performing their concert

All Aboard the Mary Rose’ for Winchester Heritage Open Days this year.

Wednesday 13th September 7:00 – 9:00pm

With period instruments and music of Tudor times, this concert tells the story of Henry VIII’s ‘noblest shipp of sayle’, the Mary Rose.

The reign of Henry VIII and the life of the ship, Mary Rose, coincide almost exactly. The concert links the historical facts with 16th century instrumental music, dance and song from the courts of England and Europe. Come and enjoy being taken back in time to hear, amongst many others, the types of instruments found on board his favourite ship.

The Pilgrims’ Hall, next to Winchester Cathedral, is opening specially for this concert and, with its hammer beam ceiling, will provide a wonderful, historic setting for the performance.
